Proteinuria in Pregnancy

During pregnancy, proteinuria has traditionally been a hallmark of preeclampsia, but it is also a nonspecific indicator of renal disease and may result from an elevated plasma protein concentration, increased glomerular permeability, decreased tubular protein reabsorption, and renal hemodynamic alterations.
